The project opens with two exclusive prints by illustrator Shawn Dickinson, known for his vintage style inspired by Hollywood’s Golden Age cartoons and by the rock ‘n’ roll, hot rod and surf culture of his native Southern California. The two works, "BATTLE" and "THE BORN OF AUSSIE", tell a surreal and dynamic story set in the world of tennis, with an exceptional protagonist: a little kangaroo.
THE BORN OF AUSSIE
This print captures a unique and bizarre moment: the birth of a cartoon kangaroo inside a tennis ball. The little marsupial, with a lively and determined expression, emerges from the yellow sphere as if it were its egg, ready to conquer the court. Dickinson’s soft lines and textured strokes give the scene dynamic energy and a retro flavour, with details recalling the golden age of animation.
BATTLE
The second print takes the action to the next level: the kangaroo, now grown up, faces an unusual opponent – a ball machine gone haywire. The tennis court becomes an epic arena, with balls flying everywhere and the little hero fighting with agility and a rebellious spirit. The adrenaline and frantic movement are masterfully rendered by the artist’s unmistakable style, with exaggerated expressions and an aesthetic reminiscent of old American comics.
